Information

Uniting is the new community services arm of the Uniting Church in Victoria and Tasmania.  Uniting is the coming together of 22 UnitingCare agencies and two church business units

Uniting lifeAssist provides government funded and self-funded community support services to the vulnerable and disadvantaged, their carers and families.   Uniting lifeAssist support people who are aged, who live with a disability and the carers of these people.  Services span across Northern suburbs of Melbourne, Eastern Metropolitan region, Mornington Peninsula, some regional Victorian locations and areas in the Southern Metro Region.

Uniting lifeAssist Carer Support services include government programs such as the Commonwealth Respite Carerlink Centre as well as self-funded programs.  Whether you care for someone who is frail aged, a person with a disability or a mental illness, Uniting lifeAssist can help to sustain your own wellbeing and caring capacity.  

Carer Specific:

Carers are defined as someone who provides unpaid care to another person, such as a family member or friend, who needs it. Carers can be of any age or background. Uniting lifeAssist Carer Services understand that the level of carer support a carer provides is unique and varies depending on circumstances.  

Carer Wellbeing Division programs offer support for:

  • Carers ageing – carers of someone who is over 65 years or 50 years if they are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • Young Carers – supporting young carers who are attending Primary or Secondary school and who care for someone with a disability, chronic illness, mental illness, addiction or who is frail aged
  • Carers Mental Health – supporting carers of people who live with a mental illness, intellectual disability or Autism
  • Carers Severe and Profound – supports carers who care for someone with a severe and profound disability
Am I eligible to use this service?

This service is available to individuals residing in the eastern metropolitan region of Melbourne specifically - Boroondara, Knox, Manningham, Maroondah, Monash, Whitehorse, Yarra and Yarra Ranges

Are there any services that  I may need to pay for but that are useful to me as a carer?
