Check out the Barwon Health Carer Support update
There are some very important changes happening with carer services this year. The existing network of Commonwealth Respite & Carelink Centres (CRCCs) will be replaced from September 2019. Barwon Health Carer Support is a part of this network.
The Australian Government is investing $569 million over the next four years to support carers across Australia. This includes $106 million in addition to current carer service funding. This is the first time in over a decade that carer services have been significantly improved, the result of extensive research and feedback from carers over the past two years.
From July this year, new supports and services will be available through the Carer Gateway, including online educational resources, peer support and coaching services as well as a new phone-based counselling service. From September 2019, carers can access specific supports and services through a new network of Carer Gateway service providers, which will work with carers to plan and access tailored and flexible services. Read more about these new services in the attached flyer. Also attached is flyer about Carer Support and the services that we will continue to offer until September 2019.
These services build on the Carer Gateway, which was introduced by the Government in December 2015 and offers a website and phone service to help carers access practical information and resources to support people in a caring role. Carers can continue to access current supports and services through Barwon Health Carer Support until September 2019. At this time, we are unsure if Barwon Health will be a Carer Gateway service provider.
Our Spring newsletter will provide an update on carer services going forward. The Spring newsletter will be the final newsletter you will receive from Barwon Health Carer Support.
